Vital Wheat Gluten
Vital Wheat Gluten (VWG) is obtained by separating the protein fraction from wheat starch, followed by concentration, drying and milling. It is supplied as a free-flowing powder ranging from light yellow to yellowish brown.
When hydrated, vital wheat gluten develops viscoelastic properties that help bind ingredients and build structure. It combines a nutritional role as a plant protein source with a functional role in feed processing.
Nutritional and functional benefits
Provides concentrated plant protein and contributes to the amino acid profile of balanced formulations. Its water-holding and binding properties can support texture and cohesion in pet food and aqua feed, depending on the recipe and processing conditions.
Application
Dry and wet pet food, fish feed and specialised livestock feeds. Inclusion levels should be selected according to nutritional requirements, processing conditions and the product specification.
